It seems like the recent European Vacation was a lifetime ago! In reality, it’s just been a couple of months. But that is ample time for this post, preceded by Parts 1-8 plus cooking in Tuscany!
Does playing this re-cap game go over well with your family and/or friends? I am a big proponent of this type of review. To me, it’s a fun exercise plus sometimes I might think twice about a future plan. Fortunately the hubby gamely plays along to share what worked best and what was not so great. It also serves as a reminder when so much was seen and done over 3-1/2 weeks plus my additional week in Italy.
Forthwith, here we go with the obvious designation of an “H” or an “L”
H – Not killing each other! All kidding aside, we absolutely are not in each other’s company 24/7 at home. But traveling is a different story. There were maybe two short blow-up’s (the hubby graciously took immediate responsibility). Good thing he misses most of what I say to myself.
H – Dinner at Steirereck (photo below) in Vienna. Superb. A few other great meals: Chef’s Restaurant in Sofia, Bulgaria; Sara in Bucharest which included a reunion; Panoramika in Skopje; Plachutta in Vienna with mutual friends of LA friends.
H – Chalet Sofija – a spontaneous itinerary change that was absolutely magnificent on every level! That steak.
H – The story of getting into the Belgrade Synagogue. Do not miss.
H – No travel “oopsies,” no car trouble, no falls — that is a very big deal. We are grateful!
L – Crossing the border from Croatia into Serbia. Wow. That was a 45-minute ordeal with multiple checks.
L – The smokers!!! They are prolific and they are everywhere. And so young. Stunningly in Macedonia, a law prohibiting smoking indoors (restaurants) was reversed.
L – Parting ways in Vienna (photo below) as the hubby goes home. But we shall see each other 8 days later.
